Course Descriptions
KIDS PROGRAM
Ages 6-12.
WOW! These are really fun camps! Students not only learn different skills and mediums they learn what they are truly capable of accomplishing in an environment that is both exciting and creative.
Emphasis is placed on drawing, painting, composition and color theory. Students study a variety of mediums such as graphite pencil, Prismacolor® pencil, Tempera Paint and Watercolor. They practice techniques like wet in wet, dry brush, spatter and sponge painting, to name just a few.
ADULT - TEEN PROGRAMS
Ages 13 & up.
Drawing 1: Learn to see the positive and negative spaces that form the abstract patterns of light and dark. Create the illusion of space and depth using value, tone and line. Create a finished illustration of an animal using graphite pencils on paper.
Drawing 2: Study the classic proportions of the human face. Do pencil sketches and studies of the various components of the face and skull, such as the eyes, ears, nose and lips. Learn to create the pattern, texture and flow of hair. Create a striking graphite on paper portrait using the skills learned in Drawing 1 and enhanced in Drawing 2.
Drawing 3: Introduction to color using Prismacolor® Pencil. This exciting medium offers a smooth transition from graphite pencil to full color illustration and the first step to painting in any medium. Create a finished color illustration of a subject of your choice.
OIL PAINTING
Adult and Teens ages 13 and up.
Painting: Prerequisites are Drawing 1, 2 and 3. Students study beginning and advanced techniques of Oil and Mixed Media. Beginning students learn the basics of painting from technique to composition. Intermediate and advanced students are encouraged and supported while developing their own style in a creative atmosphere.
AIRBRUSH
Adult and Teens ages 13 and up.
Airbrush: This is a wonderful, amazing, fun and difficult medium. It is best suited for those with patience and a true desire to learn. It is as much a craft as it is a creative art form. Drawing 1, 2, and 3 are recommended requirements. Student may be accepted based on portfolio or experience elsewhere. Teens and Preteens may be accepted as part of an over all curriculum.
ACRYLIC PAINTING
Adult and Teens ages 13 and up.
Painting: Students study beginning and advanced techniques of Acrylics, and Mixed Media. Beginning students learn the basics of painting from technique to composition. Intermediate and advanced students are encouraged and supported while developing their own style in a creative atmosphere.
