Information About the
Fall Classes.
Enrollment
is ongoing. You may register and begin Classes at any time!

All classes are progressive. Students advance in skill level through increasingly difficult and challenging projects with each additional class. Students who have attended The Houston School of Art & Design in the past will work on more advanced assignments.
The classes fill very quickly. Don't be disappointed, please register your class sessions as soon as possible!

Fall - Spring Schedule
Morning
Classes: 9:30 am - 12 noon
Mid-Afternoon Classes: 1pm - 3:30 pm
**Evening Classes: 6:30pm - 9pm (Tuesdays and Thursdays only)**
Figure Drawing Classes: Wed 7:00 pm - 9 pm
Saturday Classes: 10am - 12pm (noon), and 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
School Holidays:
New Years, Easter Weekend, Memorial Day, The Fourth of July Weekend, Labor
Day, Thanksgiving Weekend, and Christmas.
Course Descriptions
Adult/Teen Course (ages 12+)
Drawing
One: Learn
to draw an animal and obtain not only a likeness, but create the texture
of fur, feathers or skin on an animal of their choice.
Drawing Two: Draw a portrait using the classic porportions
and rules of locating the mouth, ears, eyes and nose.
Drawing Three: Advanced students create an object or landscape.
Composition and color theory are introduced during the third project.
Painting: (For Adults) Opaque Watercolor, Watercolor, Oil
Painting, and Acrylic Painting are offered. Prerequistes are Drawing One,
Two and Three.
Children's Course (ages 6-12)
Art
Plus: A
daily (plus saturday) art after school program for children from 6 to 12
years of age. The Winter Semester is from September through
December. The Spring Semester is from January through May.
Summer Camps: Begin the first full week in June and continue
weekly through mid August.
These aspiring young artists work in a variety of media including pencil,
tempera paint, and pastels using many techniques such as sponge, splatter,
dry brush, and wet on wet styles.
Airbrush Course (ages 12+)
Study the magical qualities of preparing full color art with no visible brush strokes. The oohs and aaahs of transitional color. From high tech illustration to t-shirts the airbrush is and incredible tool to have in your artistic arsenal.
Computer
Course (ages 12+)
Adobe Photoshop®,
Is the only Computer class offered at this time. It is the premiere image
editing software program. Adobe
Photoshop® is the software preferred by Photographers,
Major Advertising Agencies and Design professionals. It offers the artistic
arsenal students need to obtain professional quality results.
Figure Drawing Course (ages 18+)
This is an open lab class monitored by HSAD staff and is open to any one interested in drawing the human figure. If you like the challenge of drawing the human figure then this is the class for you. Come join the fun. Class is limited to ten students.
